Do you drink Napa Cabernet Sauvignon? Most of them are good, many are great, and some are phenomenal…but who decides which is which? You do. Taste more, but only drink the good stuff!
Honestly, I’m not the biggest fan of Cabernet Sauvignon. Don’t get me wrong, it’s delicious almost every time I taste it, but it’s kinda like a Taylor Swift concert. I love all music, I only dislike a few of Taylor Swift songs, but there are SOOO many other concerts I’d rather spend my money on.
These 3 were all very good.
Matthiasson was a bit too young for my taste per his usual ‘old world’ style, and seemed very fresh, almost slightly reductive. But the fruit was beautiful and reserved, subtly complex. Give it time and you will be rewarded.
Peju was very well balanced easy drinking, certainly the most crowd pleasing of the 3 with the right amounts of oak, acid, red and dark fruits, tannin, and medium body mouthfeel!
Barnett Spring Mountain fruit is bright but intense and complex, pretty unique and special, the tannins are grippy and the fuller bodied of the 3.

Blind Wine Tasting at a Corporate Grand Opening last night was a blast! 3-4 people guessed very close on all 3 wines! Not easy, but well done everyone!! And I even shared the #cabernetwinerhyme 😛 and met up with a great DFW DJ!
Chateau Clinet Pomerol 2015 showed hints of its age in the color and some of the complex aromas, but had excellent fruit balanced with high acid and grippy tannin leading me to believe this wine is just starting to drink well, and has many years of life left in it! #chateauclinet #pomerol
Peter Michael Pinot Noir 2021, very young but after a #doubledecant and at least an hour, this was definitely a favorite among many of the guests. It’s an amazing bottle of well balanced, true cool climate Pinot Noir that will age extremely well over at least the next 5-10 years. Revana St Helena Cabernet 2019, big bold and juicy ripe black and blue berry fruit with or without the decant Firm tannin all the way through. This wine still has plenty of great years ahead of it! #revana #napacabernet

3 reasons to support a #localrestaurant over a #chainrestaurant
1. Attention to detail and a clear mission to serve your clientele.
2. You call yourself a chain (despite only having 2 locations, according to their website?) because you know you are good enough to grow. (If #ferahrestaurant Garland is as good as Southlake, I would drive there to try it…lmk😉)
3. And most importantly, the Chef is thoughtful enough to hand write a note because he didn’t have what we ordered.
He solved a problem before the problem existed. That takes effort, and empathy.
How many chains and big businesses do you know that put forth that type of effort with similar levels of empathy?
I applaud the restaurant for seeing the value in that chef, and I applaud the chef for making great food and his #uncommonsense and #empathy for his customers. 🙌🏼🙌🏼
