Great Italian Wine Values! Video part 1

Brigaldara Valpolicella 2007 (Corvina & Rondinella grapes) $13

Medium Ruby color, relatively intense aromas of chocolate, very ripe plums, and red fruit.  A medium bodied style of Valpolicella, lighter than Amarone, but not much!  It seems as if there was some extra Amarone juice  secretly added to the vat which gives this very reasonably priced valpolicella big fruit flavors and medium tannins.  Well balanced and easy drinking, this wine is ready to drink now, and can probably keep for a year or 2.  Excellent value wine!

Castello di Luzzano Carlino 2007 (Bonarda varietal) $16

Wow!  This wine is unique, aromatic, flavorful, and great with Eggplant Parmesan!  It has a deep purple color, medium intensity aromas of big dark fruit.  This Bonarda can be compared in aroma and  flavor to a Merlot/Malbec blend… but don’t be fooled, you will never find a Merlot/Malbec blend quite like this.  It has great acid, fruit, and alcohol balance with pretty decent tannins for an easy 2-3 years bottle age.  Highly recommended!
