It’s style really varies from successful transplants,

Made famous in Argentina, but originated in France,

Mostly grown in Cahors, it’s toward the west and south,

There’s a rumor the word literally means “Bad Mouth”!

The reason was it wouldn’t ripen well when it was discovered,

But in Mendoza it’s potential was completely uncovered.

The truth is said that a merchant named Miseur Malbeck

helped export the variety so he got credit and a check.

NOW many Wine Regions present it’s different styles,

The highest elevation expressions make me smile!

They’re not as jammy and bold as those in the valley,

They’re more complex, with acid & minerality.
