I was on a search this past weekend for the 2010 white wines
from around the globe. I love the fresh, crisp wines that arrive
in late spring and early summer as they are always perfect as
an aperitif and complement so many of the light foods enjoyed
this time of year.
As I was shopping the aisles of one of my favorite stores,
I noticed a label I had not seen before, the Villa Pozzi Pinot
Grigio.
What caught my eye immediately was where this Pinot
Grigio was grown, Sicily !! This was my first taste ever of
a variety known mostly in northern Italy produced in the
southernmost wine region of the country.
Full bodied, with aromas of honey, followed by flavors of
apricot and peach, this is a totally different sytle of Pinot
Grigio. It was an ideal match to the tarragon grilled red
snapper I served for dinner.
Another fine wine for less at $11.
